LNKBOOT Updates: your module and theme updates in one place

Which modules in your shop have a new version? Which one is waiting for a security fix? LNKBOOT Updates answers on a single back-office page, for all your LNKBOOT modules and themes, always lists security fixes first and installs a module update in one click. The module is free, it does not touch your shop's front office and runs on PrestaShop 1.7.6 to 9.

  • Version 1.1.1 · PrestaShop 1.7.6 to 8.x
  • Version 1.9.1 · PrestaShop 9
  • PrestaShop 1.7.6 to 9.x
  • PHP 7.2 to 8.4

All your PrestaShop module updates on one page

One line per product: the installed version, the latest published version and the status. "Up to date", "Version 2.2.0 available" or "Security fix 2.1.1": you know at once what to do. Release notes are one click away, so you can read what changes before installing.

The check runs once a day at most. It starts in the background when you open the page, or through a scheduled task if you prefer. The back office never waits for it: the page shows the last known result.

One-click module update, with automatic rollback

One "Install version" button per module. LNKBOOT Updates checks the version's signature, downloads the file, verifies its checksum, backs up the current version, then runs the PrestaShop upgrade scripts. If one of them fails, the previous version is put back automatically and the module returns to its previous state. Images you uploaded into a module are kept from one version to the next.

Security fixes first

A flaw in a module is the most common way into a PrestaShop shop. LNKBOOT Updates sorts the list to put security fixes above everything else, and flags them in red. These fixes remain available even after your update period ends: it is a commitment of our terms of sale.

Updating a PrestaShop theme

PrestaShop Addons updates modules, but offers nothing for themes in the back office. With LNKBOOT Updates, the new version of your LNKBOOT theme appears on the same page as your modules, without having to look for it, including for a theme bought on PrestaShop Addons.

Licenses and domain, no surprises

For a product bought on addons.lnkboot.fr, you enter the key received with your purchase once, in the LNK-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX format. Your shop's domain is registered automatically at the first check from your live shop. Your development copies (subdomains, localhost, .local, .test) are covered by the same license.

If an update cannot be offered, the page says why: license revoked, license registered for another domain, update period ended with a link to renew it.

PrestaShop Addons stays in charge of what you bought there

A LNKBOOT module bought on PrestaShop Addons is updated by PrestaShop Addons, the official channel. LNKBOOT Updates recognizes it and stays out of it: it simply says so in the list. You never have two update sources for the same module.

Signed versions, checked before any installation

Every version published on addons.lnkboot.fr carries an Ed25519 digital signature, created with a key that is not on the download server. LNKBOOT Updates checks this signature on top of the file's checksum. Even if our download server were compromised, it could not pass off a modified file as a genuine version. The check also works on hosting without the PHP sodium extension, common with cPanel hosts.

Compatible with PrestaShop 1.7, 8 and 9

From PrestaShop 1.7.6 to PrestaShop 9, with each generation's native page: the classic back office on 1.7 and 8, a Symfony page on 9. The module is tested for every version in our integration matrix, from PHP 7.2 to PHP 8.4.

Light and fast

Figures measured on the shipped module, compressed with gzip (level 9). On the shop's front office: nothing, no CSS, no JavaScript, no hook. In the back office, on the module page only: 1.4 KB of JavaScript and 0.8 KB of CSS, without jQuery. The page makes no network call while it is displayed: the check runs in the background, once a day at most.

Frequently asked questions

Is LNKBOOT Updates free?

Yes. The module is free, with no subscription. The updates it reports depend on each product's license: a product bought on addons.lnkboot.fr receives its updates during its update period, and its security fixes even afterwards.

Is this module compatible with my PrestaShop version?

Yes, from PrestaShop 1.7.6 to PrestaShop 9. On PrestaShop 9, the module page is a native Symfony page, in the layout of the new back office. Every version is installed, opened and uninstalled in our integration matrix before publication, from PHP 7.2 to PHP 8.4.

Does the module install updates?

Yes, for modules, in one click and never without your consent. It checks the version's signature and the file's checksum, backs up the current version, then runs the PrestaShop upgrade scripts. If one of them fails, the previous version is put back automatically. For themes, the module reports the new version; installing them from this page comes in a later version.

What about a module bought on PrestaShop Addons?

PrestaShop Addons remains the source of its updates, as for any module bought there. LNKBOOT Updates recognizes it, says so in the list and never offers an update in its place. You never have two update sources for the same module.

How do I update a PrestaShop theme bought on PrestaShop Addons?

PrestaShop Addons offers no theme updates in the back office. For a LNKBOOT theme, LNKBOOT Updates reports the new version on the same page as your modules, security fixes first.

Where do I find my license key?

In the confirmation e-mail of your purchase on addons.lnkboot.fr, and in your customer area. It looks like LNK-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Enter it once in the module's Licenses tab. A product bought on PrestaShop Addons needs no key.

Can I use my license on my development shop?

Yes. A license covers your live shop's domain and its subdomains (staging, testing), as well as localhost, IP addresses and .local and .test domains. These copies receive updates as long as the license is active. The live shop's domain is registered automatically at the first check made from it.

Does the module slow down my back office?

No. It never makes a network call while a page is displayed: the page shows the last known result, and the check runs in the background once a day at most. Each call to the update server is limited to five seconds. The module registers no hook and does not touch the shop's front office.

What happens if the update server cannot be reached?

Nothing for your shop. Your modules and themes keep working normally. The module page shows that the last check failed, the log keeps a record of it, and the check runs again later.

How do I know an update really comes from LNKBOOT?

Every published version carries an Ed25519 digital signature, created with a key that is not on the download server. The module checks this signature on top of the file's checksum, and shows "Signed version" when it is valid.

My host does not have the PHP sodium extension. Is that a problem?

No. Without the sodium extension, common with cPanel hosts, the module checks signatures with its own PHP code. Only a 32-bit PHP, now very rare, prevents the check; no update is installed in that case.

What happens to the images I uploaded into a module?

They are kept. During an update, the data files specific to your shop (images, fonts, documents) are carried over into the new version. The code comes only from the signed version: a file removed by a security fix never comes back.

Does the module install overrides?

No. It has no override/ folder, registers no hook and does not modify the PrestaShop core. Uninstalling it removes its tables, its settings and its menu entry.

Release history

4 versions released for PrestaShop

  1. Version 1.9.1 PrestaShop 9

    Changes

    • Back-office page redesigned: status card at the top (server unreachable, updates available, everything up to date) with "Update all" and "Check now"; tabs with counters; My products with filters (All, License required, Updates), logo, installed and available versions, status and actions; Licenses with one row and one Activate button per product; Log in readable sentences, collapsible technical details and an Errors filter; scheduled task address masked, to show or copy; Discover as filterable cards (modules, themes), content and prices read from the catalog, nothing made up.
    • Display name "LNK Updates" in the module list and in the menu (French: LNK Mises à jour; Arabic: LNK التحديثات), replacing "LNKBOOT Updates".
    • Back-office page translated into French and Arabic.

    Fixes

    • A refused (badly formatted) or unchanged license key no longer restarts the check: the message stays displayed.
    • Videos and sounds that a module keeps in its own folder (MP4, WebM, OGG, MP3, M4A, MOV) are kept when it is updated, like its images and fonts. A code file is never carried over.
    • The permissions of the updated module are normalised (folders 755, files 644), whatever those of the archive: no folder is left writable by the server's other accounts.
    • The page's stylesheet and script are served with a fingerprint of their content: after an update, a cache or CDN no longer serves the old file.
    • Back-office page in Arabic: reads right to left (logical CSS properties), as PrestaShop does not flip module stylesheets.
